Watercolor- Candy Composition

Design	Poor Copied from another and/or no Rule of Thirds used.	Fair Copied mostly from another and/or little attention given to the Rule of Thirds	Good The painting shows the use of the Rule of Thirds but the composition feels lop-sided or too centered. Adjustments could have been made to make it dynamic.	Excellent The painting shows great use of the Rule of Thirds and the composition is dynamic and interesting
Craftsmanship	Poor Skill level of all mediums very low. Sloppily done. Pencil lines are clearly visible. Paper is ripped or torn.	Fair More time was given to the use of media, but still had problems filling in spaces with watercolor. Pencil lines are erased but may still be visible. The paper may be bent.	Good Skill level is on grade level. Student's use of media was very good with the exception of a few places which needed some extra added time. The paper is in good shape.	Excellent The student's media skill level is exceptional. All media used is done with great time and care. Nothing could be added or taken away to improve the painting. No pencil lines are visible. The paper is in great condition.
Color	Poor Colors are painted sloppily, and no attention was given to light and shadow.	Fair Some thought is given to how colors show variation in light and shadow, but application is lacking. Some mistakes with watercolor are visible.	Good Watercolor Techniques are present but could be improved upon.	Excellent Watercolor techniques are present and applied thoughtfully. The painting could not be improved upon.
Understanding	Poor The student shows little understanding of drawing skills, watercolor techniques, or the Rule or Thirds.	Fair The student shows understanding of drawing skills, watercolor techniques, and the Rule or Thirds, but needs improvement.	Good The student shows understanding of drawing skills, watercolor techniques, and the Rule or Thirds, but can improve slightly in one of these areas.	Excellent The student shows understanding of drawing skills, watercolor techniques, and the Rule or Thirds. This student could teach these techniques to others.
