Students will make a paper pattern using sign specific software, perforate it and transfer it to a substrate.

Create paper pattern. Print, perforate and transfer a paper pattern to a substrate.

Layout and Design Follow margin and letter and word spacing rules. Choose appropriate alphabet. Use proper emphasis	Poor Crowded margins, poor letter and/or word spacing. No clear emphasis or wrong emphasis. Poor choice of alphabet.	Fair Margins and interior spacing too narrow or too wide. Some emphasis but not clear. Fonts chosen not as legible and some emphasis on the correct words.	Good Margins and all spacing appropriate and good choice of fonts. Good emphasis and good legibiltiy.	Excellent Excellent and generous margins. Bold and obvious emphasis using appropriate strong font suitable for type of business. Good placement of emphasised words.
Print paper pattern on computer. Clear and distinct pattern printed at appropriate size	Poor Wrong size. Light image due to improper pressure on ink pen. Top or bottom portion of pattern cut off or missing due to poor plotter settings. Not enough margins.	Fair Accurate print at exact required size. Clear image with all lettering visible. Not enough margin around design area.	Good Clear and accurate print at exact size. Improved and adequte margins to allow for transfer to substrate.	Excellent Excellent and dark print aligned to edges of paper with plenty of margin to allow for transfer to substrate. Exact size and center line indicated clearly.
Perforate and powder. Perforate pattern, exactly align pattern to substrate and transfer using powder.	Poor Perforations sloppy and not following lines. Perforating done with insufficient pressure to open holes. Poor alignment to substrate, looks crooked or off center. Too much or too little powder.	Fair Perforations follow line but off slightly. More pressure needed to insure open holes. Alignment to substrate okay but either off center or top heavy or bottom heavy.	Good All lines perforated close to original pattern. Good openings to allow powder to pass through. Alignment looks accurate and powder is clear.	Excellent Lines perforated exactly to original print and with good openings for right amount of powder to pass through. Alignment is exactly square to substrate and pattern is perfectly centered and clear and distinct ready you accept paint.
