The student does not follow the steps outlined in the given scenario or the student does not address the patient with appropriate eye-contact during the simulation.

The student uses eye contact but is not organized in all patient responses or the student reads from the scenario during the simulation and does not engage directly with the patient.

The student uses appropriate eye contact during the scenario. The student is organized, with each step of of the scenario. The student appears confident during patient teaching and simulation.

The student does not provide patient education or does not explain the route or dose of administration.

The student does not provide education in both oral and written format for the patient or the student only provides one written education sheet. Or the student explains the procedure but does not include why the vaccine is ordered or is missing the patient education elements of dose and/or route of administration.

The student provides education in oral and written format for the patient. The education is comprised of the adult immunization schedule and the MMR CDC vaccine information sheet. The student explains to the patient why the vaccine is ordered, and the dose and route of administration.

The student does not administer the vaccine in a 90 degree angle in the patient's deltoid muscle.

The student appropriately administers vaccine in the deltoid at a 90 degree angle but does not was hands or does not use an alcohol swab prior to administration. Or the student does not state appropriate disposal of the equipment used.

The student washes hands then simulates administration of the vaccine using the appropriate technique for administration of the MMR. The student cleans the deltoid area for 15 seconds with an alcohol swab. The student uses a 90 degree angle and simulates administration of the vaccine. The student verbally states appropriate disposal of the equipment used.
