	Weak 2 pts	Average 4 pts	Strong 6 pts
Memorization/Preparation	Weak Student did not know the words to the song	Average Student knew part of the words to the song.	Strong Student knew 95% of the words in the song
Physical Presence/Blocking	Weak Student sits or stands in one place during most of the performance. They did little research on the song. Nervousness is extremely evident.	Average Student attempts some movement but it looks unrehearsed. Student is not quite as involved as he/she should be in the shong.	Strong Student understands the song and has attempted to put together a performance piece.
Vocal Clarity/ Expression	Weak Student does not speak clearly, stumbles over words and is often inaudible to the audience. Little or no vocal variation is utilized so the intended emotion is diminished or lost.	Average Student speaks clearly and distinctly with some minor lapses in volume, pitch, tone, tempo and inflection OR emotion conveyed was inconsistent or uneven.	Strong Student speaks clearly and distinctly while utilizing appropriately varied volume, pitch, tone, tempo and inflection. Vocal expression clearly conveyed the intended emotion.
Music/Costume Student brought music and had an appropriate costume.	Weak Student did not have his/her music. Student forgot costume.	Average Student forgot their costume or did not dress appropriately. Student sang without music.	Strong Student had music and dressed for the role in the musical.
Characterization	Weak Student established little or no character as evidenced by the student merely delivering someone else's lines. There was no evidence of character dimension and complexity.	Average Student clearly prepared and established the character yet the delivery lacked understanding of character dimension and complexity.	Strong Student clearly prepared and established the character. The dimensions and complexities of the character were embraced and delivered.
