Knowledge of Elements of Design line: horizontal, vertical, diagonal; lines that show motion (e.g., pointy, curvy)	Level 1 Student cannot accurately name and create 5 elements of design and describe how these 5 elements of design are used in his/her own paintings.	Level 2 Student can accurately name and create 3 elements of design and describe how these 3 elements of design are used in his/her own paintings. Line Quality	Level 1 No care or very little care was given to application of line. Line was sloppy or quickly sketched in. Creativity	Level 1 Student has not made much attempt to meet the requirements of the assignment.	Level 2 Student has copied some painting from the source material. There is little evidence of creativity and lack of the student's personality/ voice comes through in the artwork.	Level 3 Student has taken the technique being studied and has used source material as a starting place. The student's personality comes through in the artwork.	Level 4 Student has taken the technique being studied and applied it in a way that is totally his/her own. The student's personality/voice comes through.
