	Exploring 1 pts	Developing 2 pts	Competent 3 pts	Proficient 4 pts
Forehand	Exploring - Student cannot make contact with the ball in a forehand stroke	Developing - Student makes contact but has no control over the forehand stroke	Competent - Student steps to the ball and makes contact Controls the ball most of strokes	Proficient - Student steps to the ball, makes contact in front of the body, with follow though - Controls the ball majority of the time
Backhand	Exploring - Student cannot make contact with the ball in a backhand stroke	Developing - Student makes contact but has no control - No follow through	Competent - Student steps to the ball and makes contact - Controls the ball most of strokes	Proficient - Student steps to the ball, makes contact in front of the body, with follow though - Controls the ball majority of the time
