Theme Connection	Level 1 No connection between the chosen theme and the illustration.	Level 2 Some apparent connection between the chose theme and the illustration.	Level 3 Illustration represents the chosen theme appropriately.	Level 4 An obvious connection between the theme and the illustration.
Effort put into the assignment	Level 1 Student did not attempt to do their best work.	Level 2 Student put a minimal amout of effort into the assignment.	Level 3 Student put visible effort into the assignment. However, could have put more.	Level 4 Student put the maximum amount of effort into the assignment. They performed to the best of their ability.
Written description	Level 1 No written description of flag. Written description does not relate to flag or chosen theme.	Level 2 Written description relates somewhat to theme and flag.	Level 3 Written description explains flag, and relates to the chosen theme.	Level 4 Written description fully explains flag, and completely relates to the chosen theme.
