Metal Lathe Project - Magnetic Pickup Tool 
Students will create a lathe-turned magnetic pickup tool on a metal lathe. Project requires face turning, end drilling outside turning, and tap and die procedures.

Project shows student is not paying attention to accuracy of project dimensions. Pieces are either far too big or far too small.

Project shows student is paying attention to accuracy of project dimensions only some of the time. Overall accuracy is acceptable.

Student shows ability to utilize lathe to create pieces for project that are accurate in dimensions to technical specifications.
Tool Usage

Ability to utilize tools to create a finished product.

Student is able to utilize the tools to, create a product but does not maintain consistent proper usage which effects final product outcome drastically.

Lots of tooling marks remain on pieces and sanding is inadequate.

Project shows the student needs some more help understanding how to use the tools properly to have a well produced product.
