students hands are not on top of one another. The arms are out to the side like superman. the arms are not fully extened. head is up.

students hands are still apart. the arms are next to the ears. (squeezing ears). head is down to keep body in line.

students hands are on top of one another (like pancakes), arms are full extended out. arms are squeezing the ears and head is looking down at the bottom of pool
Breathing in freestyle stroke

when swimming freestyle, the face is not under water. but arched up to breath. the student never places head under water

when swimming freestyle, the student is comfortable with placing the face underwater. however, when takeing a breath, the student lifts the head directly up and a souple seconds, then places it back in the water

when swimming freestyle, the student is very comfortable putting the head underwater. when taking a breath, the student places an ear in the water and breathes to the side.
proper finish

the student slows down before they get to the wall. their head comes up before touching the wall and they grab the top of the pool when finishing

student is able to keep their speed all the way to the wall. however, the student still grabs the wall with both hands instead of touching the wall underwater.

student is able to accalerate into the wall. they keep their head down until the touch the wall underwater. when touch the body should be fully extended and slightly on the side.
