DANCE WARM UP ASSESSMENT 
This assessment focuses on students understanding and knowledge of a warm up sequence for dance technique. This assessment is based on the National Core Art Standards for Dance.

Knowledge of Warmup Sequence

Exceeds Standards

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of warm up sequence while executing isolations, locomotor and non-locomotor movements well.
Meet Standards

Demonstrates good knowledge of warm ups sequence. Very few errors. Student is mostly confident.
Approaching Standards

Demonstrates some knowledge of Warm ups sequence, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates and makes errors.
Below Standards

Remembers a few of the movements and tries but looks lost and out of sync. Student is not confident and often makes errors.
Technical Skills

Exceeds Standards

Demonstrates locomotor and non-locomotor movements accurately with great attention to timing, spacing and levels high medium and low. High energy is present throughout the demonstration.
Meet Standards

Movements are performed with attention to most details of technique.
Approaching Standards

Only some understanding of technical elements (i.e. isolations, locomotor movment, quality of movements and body positions)
Below Standards

Although remembers some of the warm ups, little attention is paid to how movements are performed or other details. Movements performed lazily
Focus/Timing

Exceeds Standards

Students' focus is always a high level with steady eyes, high energy and presence. Student understand frozen and neutral positons.
Meet Standards

Students' focus is mostly at high level with steady eyes, high energy and presence. Student sometimes freezes in neutral position.
Approaching Standards

Students' focus is sometimes at a high level. Student sometimes shows high energy and presence.
Below Standards

Students' focus is never or seldom at a high level. Student shows low energy and little presence. Student stops, but doesn't freeze in neutral position.
Etiquette/Attire

Exceeds Standards

Student respects self and others. Contributes to the class. Student is in proper dance attire (all black).
Meet Standards

Student respects self and others, and participates. Student is in proper dance attire (all black).
Approaching Standards

Student respects self and others but chooses to participate minimally. Student is in proper dance attire (all black).
Below Standards

Student is disrespectful, but chooses to participate. Student does not have on the proper dance attire.
