Legs at shoulder width apart; knees slightly bent
Chest out; non-dribbling hand protecting and the body the ball; perpendicular to the defense

Stance was almost always demonstrated. Knees slightly bent.

Stance was demonstrated correctly all the time. Knees bent, but occasionally standing up.
Distinguished

Knees bent all of the time while dribbling.
Head Up

Keep head up while dribbling; not look at the ball

Beginning

Student is looking at the ball or the student is not paying attention to dribbling.
Developing

Students head is down looking at the ball while looking up for short periods of time.
Proficent

Student's head is up most of the time and the student has some control of the ball.
Distinguished

Student's head is up all of the time and the student has total control of the ball.
Ball Control

Keep the ball low and away from your opponent; use either hand

Beginning

Student loses control of the ball (out of arms reach) 3 or more times in 30 seconds.
Developing

Student loses control of the ball two times in 30 seconds.
Proficent

Student loses control of the ball one time or maintains control of his/her dribble for 30 seconds.
Distinguished

Student keeps control of the ball throughout the entire assessment.
