Mandalas- Radial balance Mandalas- Radial balance In this lesson, the students learned about the history of mandalas.They then created their own unique mandalas using mix media. Design	Poor Copied from only resource material.	Fair Copied mostly from resource material with one or two changes	Good Used resource material, but made various changes to create own design. Clearly time taken to plan out.	Excellent Viewed resource materials for inspiration only. Was able to create own unique design with no visible resemblance to resource materials. No other like it in class.
Craftsmanship	Poor Skill level of all mediums very low. Sloppily done. Pencil lines are clearly visible. Paper is ripped or torn.	Fair More time was given in the use of media but still had problems in filling in spaces with colored pencils. Pencil lines are erased but may still be visible. The paper may be bent.	Good Skill level is on grade level. Student's use of media was very good with the exception of a few places which needed some extra added time. The paper is in good shape.	Excellent The student's media skill level is exceptional. All media used is done with great time and care. Nothing could be added or taken away to improve the mandala. No pencil lines are visible. The paper is in great condition.
Color	Poor Colors blend together with no real evidence of the color wheel	Fair Some thought is given to how colors work and blend into one another.	Good Color was thought out with an emphasis on blending and boldness.	Excellent Student shows clear skill in use of the color wheel, color theory and creatively showcased it.
Understanding	Poor There is no center point or radial balance is not occurring.	Fair There is a center point emphasized but the wheel is not symmetrical.	Good The center point is clear and designs are placed evenly with little shift	Excellent The center point is clear, the design is symmetrical and very even.
