Overhand Throwing 3-5 Students will throw a football overhand. Rubric Code: B22392 By jsiegel Draft Public Rubric Subject: Physical Ed., Fitness Type: (Other) Grade Levels: K-5

Overhand Throwing
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Grip	Poor Hand is to far forward or back and not on the laces causing the ball to flutter. Doesn't roll the ball off of fingers.	Fair Hand is in proper position, but needs to work on rolling the ball off of fingers.	Good Hand is slightly behind the middle on the laces. Ball rolls off of fingertips in a spiral.
Feet	Poor Steps forward with the wrong foot and not pointed to the target.	Fair Steps forward with the opposite foot, but doesn't step up.	Good Steps forward with opposite foot pointed at the target.
Ball position	Poor Ball is not in front of the body and far away from ear.	Fair Ball is near the front of the body and fairly close to the ear.	Good Ball is in front of body and near the ear.
Arm-Elbow	Poor Doesn't swing the throwing arm back and lead with the elbow.	Fair Swings the throwing arm back some and partially leads with the elbow.	Good Swings the throwing arm back (flex) with the elbow leading going forward.
Body	Poor Body isn't sideways to target and doesn't twist the chest to the target as the ball is thrown.	Fair Body is partially sideways to target and minimal twist in the chest is shown.	Good Side of body is to the target with a twist of the chest to the target as the ball is thrown.
