Ball Control & Dribbling
NOVICE
Student uses toes to kick the ball, does not have control and constantly chasing after the ball.
When changing direction or speed there is no control of the ball.
SATISFACTORY
Student only dribbles with one foot and only uses one surface of their foot to dribble.
Shows fair control when changing direction and speed with the ball.
PROFICIENT
Student dribbles forward using most surfaces of their foot.
Shows good control when changing direction and speed with the ball.
EXPERT
Student dribbles forward using all surfaces of their foot (inside,outside, bottom, & laces).
Shows excellent control when changing direction and speed with the ball.
Passing the Ball
NOVICE
Student passes the ball with their toe and ball does not reach their target. Reaches the target 0-1 times out of five attempts.
SATISFACTORY
Student sometimes passes the ball with the inside of their foot but it does not always reach their partner but is sometimes accurate with pass. Reaches the target 2-3 times out of five attempts.
PROFICIENT
Student uses the inside of their foot. They usually pass the ball accurately using their laces or outside of the foot. Reaches the target 3-4 times out of five attempts.
EXPERT
Student uses the inside of their foot. They can also accurately pass the ball using their laces or outside of the foot and can pass with both feet. Reaches the target 4-5 times out of five attempts.

No steps are taken to approach the ball
Contact is made only with the toe.
No follow through
Little to no power on shot
Shot is erratic and has no accuracy. Strikes target 0-1 time.
SATISFACTORY
Steps are taken to approach the ball, but steps may not be balanced.
Plant foot is near the ball, but not next to the ball.
Contacts the ball with the toe or the side of the foot.
Little to no follow through, resulting in loss of power. Strikes target 2-3 times.
PROFICIENT
Steps behind the ball but steps are not fully balanced
* Plant foot is around the ball, but not in the proper spot
* Contacts the ball with the side of the foot or instep
Good contact with the ball and eyes on the target. steps behind the ball but steps are not fully balanced
* Plant foot is around the ball, but not in the proper spot
* Contacts the ball with the side of the foot or instep
* Good contact with the ball and eyes on the target
EXPERT
Steps behind the ball and steps balanced.
Plant foot is next to the ball.
Uses full body momentum/force
Consistently follows through with kicking leg.
Consistently contacts the ball with the side of the foot or instep
Excellent contact with the ball and eyes on the target. Strikes target 4-5 times.
