Ball Handling/Dribbling	Unsatisfactory -Student cannot dribble the basketball with control while moving -Dribbles with palm of hand -Rigid stance, knees not bent. Effective -Student shoots the ball correctly. -Student follows through. -Student is usually successful in shooting. ------ -Student performs lay-ups with dominant hand with growing confidence and is working to improve lay-ups with non-dominant hand. -Lay up is technical correct but not fluent yet	Highly Effective -Student shoots the ball demonstrating the "BEEEF" technique -Bend/Balance, Elbow, Eyes, Extend, Follow-through - Student demonstrates excellent accuracy ------ -Student performs lay-ups with either hand consistently and confidently with refined technique and speed.
Defense	Unsatisfactory -Has difficulty maintaining defensive positioning. -Body in upright position, -Minimal effort, -Hands by side -On heels of feet	Developing -Attempts to stay between the opponent and the basket -Doesn’t slide the feet or stay in a good defensive position while defending	Effective -Anticipates change of direction -Attempts to get rebounds and/or block shots -Slides the feet -Uses hands to block the ball	Highly Effective -Good defensive position with the knees bent and arms out in the passing and shooting lanes -Slides the feet -Always stays between the opponent and the basket -Does not allow open shot
