Chopping Board Project
	Beginning 5 pts	Consolidating 7 pts	Established 8 pts	Mastery 2 10 pts
Cutting	Beginning Cuts are not straight and don't match the template design.	Consolidating Cuts are mostly done on the required line.	Established Only a few minor errors in cuts.	Mastery 2 Cuts are very accurate and symmetrical.
Finishing/Sanding	Beginning Oil application is blotchy or incomplete. Finish does not cover all of the wood or has visible marks and patches. Large scratches or gouges in wood surface. Sanding across grain is obvious. Not sanded to the proper grit paper.	Consolidating Oil application is not consistent throughout the project. Finish has minor imperfections. Some large scratches are visible. Some cross grain sanding may be visible.	Established Oil application is even. Finish is even with only the smallest of imperfections noticeable. Smooth finish. Some cross grain sanding may be visible.	Mastery 2 Oil application is even. Finish is even with no noticeable imperfections. Smooth finish with no visible scratches.
Safety	Beginning Student neglects to use proper safe work practices and is careless in the work. Does not keep area neat and organized.	Consolidating With prompting, student uses safe work practices. Student is somewhat careless about work and does not keep area neat.	Established Student usually uses safe work practices, works carefully and keeps work area neat and clutter free.
