Making Hand Made Felted Wool Vines 
Making felt from wool in which the students take the raw fiber and cause the felting process through the use of warm water , soap and agitation.

Laying out wool

Students will lay out wool using a bamboo mat by layering different colors of wool vertically and horizontally . Students will wet felt with soapy water from a spray bottle and fold mat over the pile of wool folding the mat from the bottom up.

Agitating the fibers

Using an initially gentle motion, students will roll the bamboo mat in a vertical motion, causing the fibers inside the mat to start to form a long rope. Once the rope has formed , more pressure is used to make the felted vine stronger and more felted until it is no longer a mass of fibers but a unified piece of wool

FInishing the vine by hand

Once the felted vine is formed students will roll it back and forth between their hands until it can no longer be pulled apart. The finished vine will now be dried out and wavy from the felting process
