RESEARCH PAPER GUIDELINES The research paper is to be 5-10 pages, double-spaced and must cite all sources. Students may do an oral presentation or other product instead of a research paper, and will be graded on clear verbal and visual communication of the research and findings. For other research products besides research papers and oral presentations, meet with Mr. Crook to come up with a rubric together.

Students are expected to upload their presentation after they present. In this assignment, students will explore themselves a little more than they had initially anticipated. Students will take information they used in their Lifeline assignments earlier in the semester to determine at least five key areas in their lives that they deem most important in helping shape them into the people they are today.

This rubric is to be used to write a reflective essay on the materials learned in the course. Reflection on the material and how you internalize the information for yourself is expected to be reflected within the essay.

7.5b The Constitution established three branches of government as well as a system of checks and balances that guides the relationship between the branches. Individual rights of citizens are addressed in the Bill of Rights. -Students will compare and contrast the powers granted to Congress, the president, and the Supreme Court by the Constitution

Students will be divided into five groups based on organization assigned to them. Each topic must have a minimum of 6 slides in the presentation. Each slide must have information and a picture/graphic/or link on it. One slide must be for Citations.

The students will create a poster on a Memorial of the Civil Rights Movement. The poster should include an explanation and summary of the event, person, or persons their group is memorializing.

Students will explore printmaking by creating a positive and negative foam stamp and applying their new knowledge of composition to create an artwork on a portfolio bag using fabric paint paint.

Traditional Writing Criteria

Students will create a political brochure that is based off a party that they have created. The brochure must include 4 issues and as well as a mission statement and of logo. All facts must include a source.

1. Title the poster board with the name of your party. Research and analyze the viewpoints of the Republican and Democratic parties. Compare these views to other American political parties, such as the Tea Party movement. Create a new political party which reflects your own viewpoints and platform. Develop a political symbol and a platform of the 5 most important positions you wish to promote (i.e., the party’s platform). Develop a poster that includes the new political symbol and the platform.

Write Personal Theory Paper

Students will pick a topic of choice and research to get a more in depth understanding of the topic. The paper will be no more than two pages.

For this research essay, you are to research a topic of your choice, as long as it concerns an area of Black history. It can concern an event, person, or place. This is to be 1000 - 1200 words long. It must be 1.5 spacing, using a common 12 font. See guideline for further information. The paper will be graded on quality of research, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources and relevance of included information.
