DANCE PERFORMANCE RUBRIC For Dance: Level 1

Each student is required to compose a phrase over 4 weeks, exploring with the elements of dance to communicate an idea. The phrase should be 45 seconds long but no longer than 1:15minutes. The dance needs to have a noticeable beginning, .middle, and end. Students will apply the creative process to the composition of short dance pieces and a teacher devised phrase. The teacher devised phrase is to be manipulated by changes in space, time and dynamics.

Students are to create a dance, Solo/D/T or Group. The dance needs to have a noticeable beginning, middle, and end. The Broad theme is History Students must choose a significant Historical Event.

Students will work to develop a well choreographed dance. Students will choreograph to chosen piece of music. The Dance must include listed skills, level changes and creativity. Students may only work solo.

64 Count Choreography Criteria: Choose Stimulus. Movement should include: Free flowing movements, Contractions, Fall/Recovery, Expression, Body roll, (3 Elements of Dance: Energy, Space, Time), (Dance Variations: Direction, Level Tempo, Style, Accent), (Dance turns: Pencil, Chaine, Outside).
