Poem Re-Write

Students can choose to rewrite their favorite poem or another poem from Out of the Dust from the point of view of Billie Jo’s father. Students will need to remain focused on the topic and make sure their poem reflects the conflicts and theme of the novel.

Students will need to select a favorite poem (so far) and create a drawing, painting, or collage that reflects the mood and images the poem suggests.

Chain of Events Diagram

Students need to re-read the poem, “The Path of Our Sorrow” (pg. 83). Working together students will use facts from the book, the presenter, and other resources to create a diagram that shows the chain of events that led to the dust storms, and measures that helped the storms end.
