After the Elements and Principles of Art unity you will be asked to be to name all the elements and principles of art as well as know, describe, and demonstrate examples. In this assessment students will work on demonstrating the Elements and Principles by drawing and using materials in the classroom. While students are working they will be called up one by one and be asked to name and give examples of each element and principle.

Art students should be able to successfully critique their own artwork and that of others using terminology that is understandable and relevant to those in the field of art.

This rubric can be used in evaluating all types of art including: ceramics, drawing, painting, collage, & digital art.

Students choose a piece of artwork that interests them, read a biography/background of the artist and attempt to infer what the artists' intention of the piece was, the message the artist intended with the artwork, or a story to represent the artwork.

Students use the slab hand building method with a mask mold to make a clay mask expressing their own unique creativity.

Write a persuasive letter / Letter to the artist. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

Individual Student Assignment - To Write a Persuasive Letter using the A.I.D.A. appraoch.

Worth 100 Points. You will choose a geometric shape and construct it 3-Dimensionally using the slab method of clay construction.

Color Wheel -After reading over the color wheel section together and completing the color wheel exercises using the software, students will create a color wheel in their sketchbooks, using their colored pencils. -Then students will write next to the wheel a list of the primary colors and secondary colors, and will also write down what each colors compliment is (complimentary colors). Students will also list what colors can be used to create gray.

Students are asked to produce their own art piece based on the ndebele wall paintings to create and shape arts works by combining arts elements to express personal ideas, feelings and experiences. They also practice arts works, using interpretive and technical skills

Students imagine, design, and create their own mythological monster using any medium they choose. The monsters can be drawn on paper (one dimensional) or sculpted in clay or play doh. Project leads into myhology unit in reading.

in 2 minutes or less students needed to center a pice of clay on the potters wheel. While being filmed, they needed to explain the process of centering.

Students will use their sketchbooks to take in-class notes, do preliminary and thumbnail sketches, write journal entries and complete there "Op Art Drawing".

Students will evaluate their pottery piece based on their experience on the wheel and the outcome of their completed pot.

Students are to construct a vessel 6 inches minimum in height out of coils.
