Adopt the role of an individual living in Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia or Bahrain and create a blog/diary/videoblog that captures what it is like to live through the revolutions currently underway in those nations. Also assume a point of view: pro-revolution, anti-revolution, question -- and consider the wide variety of people you might be. (What would it like to be a sidewalk vendor? What would it be like to be the current leader of that nation?)

Students should choose one song from at least five separate revolutions and research both the song itself and the revolution and historical event to which it is most closely referenced (this should be done collaboratively so that a group of five will assign one song from different revolutions to each student accumulating five songs and revolutions per group).

You will create a play based on a Revolution. You are going to create a play. Your play will be based one of the many revolutions that has taken place somewhere in the world (i.e. the American Revolution, the Mexican Reolution, the Boxer Rebellion.) Your play must explain what a revolution is, include the causes and consequences of the the revolution, include at least two key players (this may be kings, military leaders or revolutionary thinkers) and be at least 3 minutes long.

The student will be given written material on a major figure of the Scientific Revolution and how that persons discovery can into conflict with the religious and cultural values of the day. The Student is to read and make an oral presentation on the conflict that was brought about by this discovery.

The time line will include colored illustrations of 23 major events during the French Revolution. Time line will begin with the Old Regime and end with the conclusion to the Reign of Terror.

8 rubric Muckracker Activity Group Project       popup preview  
Groups work together to develop a newspaper covering the Industrial Revolution including articles done individually from four students on the following five topics: 1) Find out the scoop on one of the millionaires of the 19th century. What good and bad things did they do? Write an article. 2) Write an article on one of the inventions of the Industrial Age? How did it work? What changes came about as a result? 3) Pretend you are a worker in a factory. Describe your day and compare/contrast that to your average day. 4) Write an article about the unions during the Industrial Revolution and compare/contrast that to what you discover about today's unions. Include information from a relative about their union. 5) Write an article about the inventions since the computer was invented. Describe how they have changed our lives and compare that to the way Industrial Revolution inventions changed lives. Note: no formal presentation is required but newspapers will be shared with the class.
