This course will focus on finding and evaluating information and resources on the Internet. Principles of information access, search tools, search strategies, evaluation criteria, intellectual property and MLA Citation Style will also be discussed.

Choose a full-length article that reviews research on a the week’s topic from a recent issue (last 5 years) of a journal that is offered or subscribed to by the University’s library (LiNC). Be sure to provide an electronic copy of your article because you'll need to turn it in with your paper.

Evaluates the level of group participation, library research, originality, and depth of content presented in a creative format.

This rubric can be used to self-assess a videotaped Information Literacy session using the following ten measures: preparation, introduction, questions, clarity, summarization, active learning, presentation, content, communication, and classroom management. For each of the 10 elements, circle a description that applies best to the videotaped class you are reviewing. Add up the points and use the key below to assess the class: Excellent class=64-80pts Good class=40-64pts, Fair class=16-40, Minimal class (needs improvement)=16-0 pts.

Paper will be graded on quality of research, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, and relevance of included information. Grade will be based on organization, clarity, use of transitions, appropriate voice, correct citation format, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Research the approved topic. Submit 4-5 typed pages publishing the results of your research. Include a Reference page with at least 6 sources used researching the paper.
