When writing your one paragraph short answer for the exam, this is what your answer will be graded on. Short answer paragraphs are worth ten points each for a total of 50 points.

Class participation is an essential component to studying and learning world history. The discovery of knowledge and the transmission of ideas can not take place in isolation. Class participation is more than just showing up to class and occupying space in a chair. Students need to obtain the necessary skills to navigate academia and participating in all aspects of the educational process will strengthen skills. Class participation for this course is defined as class attendance, responding to course emails, attending office hours, and turning in notes taking during lecture.

Short Essay answering historical question. Five paragraphs. 50 points total

A quiz on the course readings will be administered at the beginning of class throughout the semester. The reading quizzes for this course total ten and are worth a total of 100 points. Reading quizzes will not be announced and the student is expected to stay current with course readings the entire semester. Makeup quizzes are not permitted. The quiz may cover individual chapters or entire sections of the course textbook.

This exercise is designed to engage the student by focusing on an oral and written understanding of history. A short article will be presented to the class. Students are expected to prepare for the discussion by reading the article and find the main arguments of the article.
