This rubric is for grading student's written assignments.

Their Eyes Were Watching God creative project options 2 &3. 2. Create a character interview: Write at least ten questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her role in the story. Your questions should go beyond the who, where, what and when and focus on the how and why. Your interview should include the character’s answers from his or her point of view 3. In this project you will create a scrap book from the point of view of Janie. Your scrap book must include 5-6 photos that represent an important event in the novel (with brief notations as to who is pictured and what event from the novel the photo represents), 2 news paper clippings which you will write (can be a news article, obituary or letter to the editor—But, each article must represent a different event and each type of article may only be used once.) and one diary entry from Janie’s point of view about an important event in the novel and her feelings.

Students will write as characters and send and receive letters from each other.

Students write a letter-to-the-editor persuading readers that their teacher is an alien; they must include an interesting opening, three pieces of evidence, and a convincing closing.

This rubric is designed to encorporate all factors in looking for a job. It includes factors such as: cover letter, resume, job application, thank you letter, and the interview.

Construct a resume based upon a future job that you would like to prepare for or construct a resume based on a current job that you are trying to obtain and prepare a Cover Letter to accompany your resume. You may use the Internet or Newspapers to apply for jobs.

In a well constructed 5 paragraph essay, discuss a significant event that has helped shape the way you view the world. Use an effective hook introduction, a powerful thesis statement, and interesting, compelling details, and proper grammar, spelling and usage to construct your essay.

After watching We Were Soldiers, write a letter home to your family, detailing your time in battle.

Students are to write a letter to the 6th grade student that will sit in their seats next year.
