DANCE PERFORMANCE RUBRIC For HMS Dance Team Auditions

Instructor assess group efforts in producing group choreography as an assignment in which all members contributed to producing choreography for the task at hand. Assignment was to choose a dance form, choreograper, or performer which interested you. choreography should have a clear form, transitions that are seamless and movements that represent your choreographer, dance, or theme. Students should use as many cultural aspects as possible to enhance their pieces or dances.

The students will work with a partner and put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the HMS way in Dance.

Dancers are to create a dance sequence that contains all 6 of the basic body actions. The sequence should be 8 counts of 8 long. All members will contribute to the choreography

JAZZ ROUTINE IN CLASS PERFORMANCE. STUDENT WAS REQUIRED TO FOCUS ON A SHORT ROUTINE AND CLEAN THEIR TECHNIQUE, WORK ON PERFORMANCE SKILLS, AND REFINE THE CHOREOGRAPHY.

Students are to create a dance in groups that is 5 eight counts long, contains a beginning pose and end pose, 1 turn, 1 leap, 1 traveling step, and 1 formation change. Students will apply the creative process to the composition of short dance pieces, using the elements of dance to communicate feelings and ideas.

Assignment was to include 2/5 choreography techniques: 1. jazz technique 2. level changes 3. traveling steps 4. Formation changes 5. incorporate off beats and pauses

Rubric for dance class rehearsals and performance of Ghosts Myths and Legends

Dance History Project part two. Students are to create a slideshow or video presentation to present to the class on their topic.

Students will complete a research paper either a dance style, performer or choreographer. The paper should be 1-2 pages in length. Students should include brief history of the dance style, types of movement involved, and the history and culture of the topic chosen.

Choreograph and perform dance sequences, using the elements of movements and basic dance steps and patterns.
