Research Paper Scoring Rubric

Students choose a way DNA/Genetics technology is being used to improve our lives and future.

Students will use this rubric as they create a poster related to a fad diet of their choice. This will be the grading rubric when the poster is completed. See assignment for additional guidelines for additional information related to the required content.

The student will investigate and understand simple machines and their uses. Key concepts include: a) types of simple machines (lever, screw, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, and wedge); b) how simple machines function; and c) examples of simple machines found in the school, home, and work environment.

This is the rubric for assessing the Social Justice Project

The project is to develop a slide show presentation describing an assigned disease. This project would be for a high school AP, honors or advanced Biology class. The minimum number of slides is 15 and the maximum is 25. The project involves researching the cell-signaling pathway involved in particular diseases or infection. Include 5 appropriate graphics/pictures. Also include a title slide and a works cited/reference slide with at least 5 sources.

Create a collage that represents how chemistry is connected to or been in or by your chosen subject. This collage should consist of a wide variety of images that tell the story of how chemistry is used and or influences your chosen subject. The collage can include both words and images that describe how chemistry is used. . Grades will be given according to the attached rubric.

Create a Facebook profile for your assigned organelle, utilizing the Facebook template provided. Prior to creating your Facebook profiles, be sure to research your organelle thoroughly. This will ensure that you have ample information to bring into your Facebook profile. Please utilize the rubric for self-assessment and reflection in meeting all guidelines and criteria.

Students design a pinball machine that has a base size of 11" x 18", has minimum 2 sets of flippers and 2 bumpers.

Students must create a 3-D cell model of ONE of the following organelles appropriate to your class as an animal or plant cell; mitochondria, cell wall, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, vacuole, vesicle, Golgi apparatus, and chloroplast. Student must label all parts of the organelle in detail, include function(s) that correlate to Activity 4, how it works, and explain their model to the class. May work in pairs or alone.
