Use this rubric for grading class assignments. Can be customized for any subject.

This toolkit will provide future counselors with quality resources for use in future work with children/adolescents. The toolkit is specifically relevant to the content of the course in which it was created.

Write a paper that discusses: 1. Summary of presenting issues 2. Clinically significant symptoms 3. DSM-V diagnoses that have criteria met from these symptoms; or the ones that are not met and what is missing from the symptoms presented (e.g. subclinical; rule-out; V codes) 4. Treatment plan & recommendations 5. Strengths/needs: client, family, school, peers, community (including developmental/environmental & cultural factors) 6. Assessment tools to use when assessing this client

Students will write 6 summaries over major categories of child and adolescent disorders: • Neurodevelopmental Disorders • Trauma & Stressor Related Disorders • Feeding & Eating Disorders • Elimination Disorders • Disruptive, Impulse Control, & Conduct Disorders • Other disorders – Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Selective Mutism, Gender Dysphoria in Children (While these belong to various groups, they are important when working with kids.)

Review of Literature (Journals, not books). Research a literacy topic that interests you. Submit one 3-5 page typed paper, double spaced, 12 point font following APA guidelines. Include a bibliography citing at least 3 resources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the thesis, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.
