Systems Timeline
Student created timelines of one physical and one social system. Timelines are based on a self-selected system and demonstrate the evolution of the system from conception to current version.

Filtration Investigation
You are part of a team of engineers who have been given the challenge of developing an filtration system to eliminate as much dirt or mud as possible from a water sample you have been provided. If your system works, you'll end up with water that looks completely clear. How you accomplish the task is up to your team! The team with the clearest resulting water (based on a visual inspection) will have developed the best filter in the class.

Create a rube goldberg device consisting of 4 simple machines. The device must complete the following requirements: -Run for at least 10 seconds -Last action must pop a balloon -No flame or explosive actions allowed A written report and a detailed drawing of your device is required for this project.

Infomercial
Create a 1 to 2 min infomercial using video. Video must be a commercial for a new invention of a product, or a parody of an existing one. Your infomercial must be a story line production in which you are trying to convince (persuade) someone to buy a specific product. You must have at least 10 sentences with 5 or more words and have audio to your video. A written script must accompany your presentation, as well as a storyboard. The use of props to enhance your video are strongly advised!

Write a news article about a local event for a student newspaper. Write a headline and a subhead. Begin with a strong lead. Answer the questions who, what, when, why (or how), and where in your article. Use at least 2 sources/quotes and include necessary stats. Sports articles must be 150 words, news articles 200 words. Lab Report Scientific Writing
Use the "Scientific Writing Checklist for Lab Reports" to create your lab report. Each of the six sections in the checklist will be evaluated to compile an overall 50% classwork/project grade. Use this rubric to help you critique your lab report so that you may get the highest score possible.

Popsicle Stick Bridge Building
Arch or Beam bridge to be made out of popsicle sticks, skewers, toothpicks and masking tape. Width must be a minimum of four centimetres. The bridge must span distance of 30 centimetres. The bridge must be able withstand a maximum of 1.5 kilograms of weight without failing or sagging more than 5 centimetres.

This is an introductory writing piece to essay writing. This writing piece will be 250-300 words in length and is split into 2 paragraphs. Figurative Language Project
You will find examples of a metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, alliteration and assonance present in song lyrics. Song lyrics must be appropriate for school. You will need to create seven representations of these examples in some form (poster, power point, diorama, etc...) You will need to include the section of song lyrics you are using somewhere on your representation as well.
