Students create a logo to represent their company which utilizes their personalized font.

The students will develop a poster design on a specific typeface of their choice. The poster must effectively utilize elements and principles of graphic design and the grid structure. The poster must be in black & white only and should include the name of the typeface, the typeface designer's name, the year it was created, a series of alpha characters in upper and lowercase, the full set of numerals, special characters, one supporting graphic element, and a brief paragraph about the history of the typeface.

Students create a drawing for which they have used the method of observation, sighting and measuring to establish accurate proportions. They are encouraged to be creative and morph their features with something other than themselves. i.e. an animal

Observation of landscape utilizing color mixing, saturation, layout/composition and layering.

Design a two sided postcard for a gallery show in PSD.

Traditional portraits are usually head and shoulder shots with the subject smiling into the camera. Personality portraits dig a little deeper into the soul of your subject and reveal the character of the person. The background or foreground may or may not be an important aspect of the image. Lastly, environmental portraits reveal the subject’s profession, vocation, hobby or passion. The environment surrounding the subject is a key element in the photograph.
