Remember, a draft is not a partially completed paper; rather it is simply the first draft of a completed paper. Your Works Cited must be included.

The 1st copy of the rough draft will be typed in correct MLA format and contain a completed introductory paragraph with a clear thesis, multiple body paragraphs that relate back to the thesis, a fluid organization, correct citations, and a 'working' Works Cited page.

Research the approved topic. Submit one 5-7 page typed research paper that follows MLA guidelines. Include at least 7 sources used in your research as part of the content of your Final Draft. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

The purpose of this rubric is to allow the student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the book The House on Mango Street to the movie Almost a Woman.

A paragraph is a group of sentences developing one topic. This rubric will assess how well students develop the topic and support main ideas within a written paragraph.
