Students will research and present a complete overview of a disease or illness related to a body system covered in this course.

Take the subjects that was assigned to your group and provide information that relates to the EMS field. Note how the subject will impact you as an EMS Provider. Provide information such as but not limited to, defining the problem, statistical information, responsibilities of EMS, negative impact on EMS, solutions to make a positive change. Be creative.

Students will be put in a simulated emergrency situation using the manikins as the victims. The students will need to approach the situation and be able to identify each victims symptoms and treat them with the proper first aid skills. The student will also be able to examine their own performance and critique their performance. The student will approach the situation with safety, identifying the symptoms, putting knowledge into action and treating the victim with proper first aid skills.

Demonstrate Patient Assessment segments

Students will be researching a chosen drug category in small groups (groups of FOUR, with one group of three due to uneven class size), then sharing the collected information about the drug with the class. They will complete a research paper, as well as presentation. The presentation can take any form the students choose (prezi, PowerPoint, etc) and is open to creativity! The research paper and presentation should include the classification; proper name; street names; how it's taken; history; immediate effects; long term effects; medical uses(if any);legal or illegal. Any additional information will be rewarded with extra credit. The group must also present the class with a short 5 question quiz on their drug.

This rubric is meant to help guide in the creation of your presentation project. Each category in the far left column represents a component of the project that will be taken into consideration when calculating the final grade for this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before, during and after the creation of the presentation, to ensure that all intended elements of your presentation have been represented and all other criteria have been met.

Students research a type of medical condition or trauma and create a presentation for the rest of the class using "Prezi" zooming software.

Assignments as part of project: Bullet Point outline is due Week 3; Prezi presentation is due Week 5. Your first task is to create a bullet point outline with the following information: 1) identify the poison, 2) route of ingestion, 3) poison control number, 4) whether inducing vomiting or not is important, 5) treatment modalities, 6) people potentially at risk, 7) at least 10 recommendations for patient education about the poison, and 8) include a reference page. Your task is to create a Prezi (See Prezi.com) about a household poison. Your prezi must include all of the required components of the outline.

To speak on the disease that was assigned on a patient level. To be able to explain what the disease is, the signs and symptoms, and to talk about the treatment options.

The project is to develop a power point presentation describing an assigned communicable/noncommunicable disease and present it to the class. This project would be for a highschool health (9-12) class which is a requirement for highschool graduation. The minimum number of slides in th powerpoint is 15 and the maximum is 25. The requirements include; what is the disease; cause; signs and symptoms; incubation period; treatment; prognosis; and prevention. Include 5 appropriate graphics/pictures. Questionable ones need to be preapproved by the teacher. Also include a title slide and a works cited/reference slide with at least 5 sources.
