Purpose: In order to more successfully contribute to community and society at large, you should be current on Canadian issues, controversies and events. Being an informed citizen and discussing current events will give you a better perspective on different points of view. You will examine what is happening right now in Canada and try to make connections to the past, present, future, and ourselves. Each student will complete the current events assignment individually.

Oral Presentation

The poster will contain information and pictures about one of the Punic Wars. The oral presentation must be aligned with the poster. The students should have 10 facts that will provide a better understanding of why their specific Punic War was fought, who was involved in the War, and what the effects of that specific Punic War were on the Roman Republic. The poster must be visually appealing, include graphics/pictures, and include at least ten words from the Latin I final exam vocabulary list.

Groups of four students work collaboratively to design a poster based upon their individual research as "Area Experts" within a diplomatic "Mission". Each student is either a Cultural, Economic, Intelligence, or Political Affairs US Foreign Service Officer in their assigned country (or colony) during the era of the "New" Imperialism: 1885-1914.

The students will research and put together an electronic presentation. The presentation will contain information that the students researched regarding the assigned topic. The group oral presentation must be aligned with their electronic presentation, and meet all additional guidlines per the teacher assignment.
