Students have selected one of the sonnet types below and have written an original sonnet based on that structure (Spencerain, Petrachan, or Shakespearean). They are expected to employ, manipulate, and recite various poetic devices with mastery during the rectial of this original sonnet. Please use the rubric below and grade them accordingly. Place this rubric in my box after it is completed. Thank you for taking the time to listen to and grade these sonnets.

Rubric for students writing a short story that is fiction, science fiction, or fairy tale.

Students select an appropriate song and provide class with lyrics. Students will give a speech (3-5 minutes in length) from one of the song character's point of view, detailing meaning of the song, why the song was written, etc.

A eulogy is a public speech which is a tribute that praises the achievements and virtues of someone who has died. Spoken eulogies are delivered at a funeral or memorial service.

This is a rubric designed to measure student's ability to expound on a a scripture passage and why it is meaningful to him/her.

Each student will create one of the following: a model, brochure, newspaper article, powerpoint presentation or storybook that interprets their understanding of the epic poem, Beowulf.

Students will give a personal experience speech on a topic of their choice to their peers. They will be assessed on content and delivery.

Students will memorize and recite The Gettysburg Address to the class.

Students create a war room of scriptures and prayers to deal with uprooting lies they have assimilated from the enemy by replacing them with the Word of God.

Students create their own Shakespearean sonnet whose subject is something praiseworthy: God, aspects of nature, love, compassion, etc. Sonnet must be 14 lines, in iambic pentameter and have Shakespearean rhyme scheme.
