This rubric is for grading student's written assignments.

Assessment rubric for an inquiry assignment where the students are to research historical events keeping in mind the four historical spheres of influence (Social, Economic, Military, Political) as well as effectively using the Historical Thinking Benchmarks in accordance with curricular outcomes (objectives).

The objective if this assignment is to investigate an important element of of the 1940's, so you will better understand the historical context around which it was written.

Research the approved topic. Submit one 4-6 page typed paper, double spaced, 12 point font following MLA guidelines.

Rubric for RAFT

Groups will research their given abolitionist or pro-slavery advocate; listing details about their role in the debate to end slavery.

Students will have random notebook checks.

Create an illustrated using photos, artwork, or graphic design. You must number a minimum of five places on your map and explain what they are AND their significance to your topic.

Imagine your were living during slavery. Write 5 journal entries for a slave, a slave master, a slave driver, a colonial official, or any other person living at the time. You must have 5 diary entries of 1/2 page each. You work must be supported by at least 5 reliable sources

Create a mural using photos, artwork, or graphic design. You must number a minimum of five images and explain what they are AND their significance to your topic.

Students will choose a topic that pertains to the Cold War and create a five page research project on their chosen topic.

Notebooks will be checked at Week 8 and Week 16. This is part of your formal assessment grade. Notebook grading is based on organization, neatness, and accuracy/appropriate content. This is a highly weighted assessment that places your work habits and organizational skills in high priority.

Guidelines for scoring a grade 9 5 paragraph essay.

General rubric for a 5 paragraph organizational essay: utilizes the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and revising.

Use your notes and the textbook pages to create a recruitment poster for the crusades. Your poster should include: A definition of the crusades. A map of the crusades. The four causes of the crusades. Pope Urban’s call for defeat of the Turks to return the Holy Land top the Christians. Who answered or needs to answer the call. A description of all three crusades. The results of the crusades.

Students must build 8 baseball cards from a list given to them by the teacher. Accuracy category counted twice. Each card is scored independently. The project is worth a total of 80 points.
