The purpose of this rubric is to allow the younger student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the book Charlotte's Web to the movie of the same name. In preparation for this assignment, the student will have had instruction in the writing process, sentence structure, capitalization, end marks, specific vocabulary words, read the book and viewed the movie. Students will also have had instruction using technology i.e., word processing and power point. This can also be used for older students who lack the appropriate skills to write this type of essay.

This project was modeled and guided by the teacher and took place over a 5 day period. The focus of this project is on basic research skills as well as typing using capitals for names and proper nouns and correct punctuation and spacing. Spelling is not a main priority, but is considered as well. The total is 40 points possible
