The purpose of this rubric is to allow the younger student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the book Charlotte's Web to the movie of the same name. In preparation for this assignment, the student will have had instruction in the writing process, sentence structure, capitalization, end marks, specific vocabulary words, read the book and viewed the movie. Students will also have had instruction using technology i.e., word processing and power point. This can also be used for older students who lack the appropriate skills to write this type of essay.

This rubric is to help students assess how they are typing and how assessing these points will improve their overall typing skill as well as giving them an awareness of those skills they need to improve.

PowerPoint and presentation for developing good searching skills

This rubric is designed to help students combine the sound editing skills of Audacity with their PhotoStory or Movie Maker skills.

Students use the computer to develop either typing of mouse manipulation skills. Brigance (Yellow) and (Green) Readiness Skills New York State Technology Standard 2 – Information Systems Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using appropriate technologies.

Students were given the task of summarizing their learned-computer skills during quarter 1 by creating a comic conversation between 2 characters.

Business Keyboarding Course Description: Students should be proficient in managing computer operations and file storage; preparing simple documents and other business communications; accessing and navigating the Internet; searching for information and resources using the Internet; using e-mail to communicate with others and to share files and documents.

Word processing and FirstClass: Students should be proficient in logging into email, using file storage, sending attachments, replying to posts in conference areas, preparing simple word processed documents with 7 opening steps.

Students must demonstrate basic computer skills by turning on the computer, using a mouse, logging in, and developing a password.

Uses word art, microsoft word and typing skills as well as importing pictures from paint

Students will research a state on the internet and in books and fill in the information in their own words using the info on the template. This project was modeled and guided by the teacher and took place over a 5 day period. The focus of this project is on basic research skills as well as typing using capitals for names and proper nouns and correct punctuation and spacing. Spelling is not a main priority, but is considered as well. The total is 40 points possible
