Students are selecting an animal, researching and writing about their animal, and designing a poster cube to aid them in their oral presentation. The presentation should tell about where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, and any predators that their animals may have. Students should focus on their animal's speed and motion in order to do comparison's between their animal and animals their classmates are reporting on.

The students will develop a poster or a shoebox sized diorama depicting one plant and one animal found in the _______________ habitat. The project will contain the following information: Picture and name of the plant and animal, at least three things that the habitat provides that help the organisms survive within that habitat. The student will orally explain the things that the habitat provides that enable the plant and animal to survive.

Write a persuasive letter. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

Get a partner for this one! Each partner writes his/her autobiography. That’s a biography written by the person. Remember to use “I” as you write. When both partners are done, switch and turn the autobiographies into biographies. Now you are writing about another person, using “he” or “she.”

This book report will contain multiple paragraphs and will be limited to one page. Student name, date and number should appear on the title page.

Second grade has been learning about an Inuit community (Iqaluit). Our project now, is to build a model showcasing an Inuit community. Remember, in a community, you find buildings, plants, animals and people.

Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of equivalent fractions by creating illustrations to show fractional parts.

Students will solve word problems using math problems and pictures.

Students are required to answer comprehension questions doing/after class readings. Answers must be written in complete sentences.

Students will sequence the parts of a plant and label.

A paragraph is a group of sentences developing one topic. This rubric will assess how well students develop the topic and support main ideas within a written paragraph.

Students will write a story about the places they travel and the forms they take as they move through the water cycle as a drop (particle) of water. Students will also make consumers aware of why it is important to conserve water and ways to conserve water.

Students will write an animal adaptations essay and build an adapted animal for final project of science unit. Included will be a brainstorming poster with illustration of animal and important facts about animal. Also included will be a rough draft of essay describing the animals environment and adaptations for survival, and a final draft of the essay with correct spelling, capitalizations, etc. to give to English teachers for a cross curricular grade (get English teacher's approval ahead of time and inform students this will be given to English teacher so students will know).
