Interpretation and performance of poetry

Research to Build and Present Knowledge Conduct short research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question), drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration.

The students will put together a Powerpoint for presentation to their classmates. The PP will contain relevant information about their assigned topic in Brave New World Revisited. The PP will be designed during 2 class period at school (Monday and Tuesday) and can be tweaked at home and prepared for presentations on Wednesday and Thursday, February 13th & 14th.

Students will give a persuasive speech to their peers exploring one topic from a list of divisive topics. They will be assessed on use of persuasive language, content and style of delivery. Speeches need to be a minimum of 5 minutes long and no longer than 6 minutes. Speech must include a power point presentation for the audience.

You will choose one of three contexts, (Home, school or work) to address grevious wrongs there by calling on your constituents to rebel.

Write a newspaper article for a recent event that has occurred locally, or a topic of interest to the community. Your article must include a quote taken from an interview you did with someone who is/was involved and demonstrate your knowledge of the components of a newspaper article. You may include a picture/chart to enhance your article, but it is to be a minor part of your article. Remember - "just the facts!" Must be YOUR ORIGINAL WORK.

American mysteries class writes a short mystery story.

Students will create a graphic novel for an original story. The graphic novel should demonstrate comprehension and include graphic novel components.

A simple one page introduction to you. Minimum 4 paragraphs. Intro, topic 1, topic 2, conclusion.

Performance of Drama for English Class

Students will take on a role of an animal from George Orwell's novel and give a persuasive speech to their peers. They must persuade their audience to take action against the pigs and support themselves as the leader. They will be assessed on content and delivery. This grade is two parts: written work and oral presentation
