How To Paragraph Rubric (Explaining a process)

This rubric will assist in assessing a nonfiction report on an U.S. President's biography. The students will choose a President who has influenced history. They are then to conduct research which must include a book, but using more than one resource. They will present an oral report while I show a picture of the President in the background.

Students will create dioramas related to the Native Americans of the Plains region and the Woodland region with a short explanation of their diorama. Students will present their diorama to the class.

Assessing students on their knowledge for the given research questions. Students will also be marked on their presentation skills.

This rubric will be used to grade your final narrative writing piece. To make sure to get full points, make sure that you have done all that the rubric asks for.

Students create a science model, and present their model. The model should be based on a scientific concept that is based on a topic of the student's choosing.

Students will create a written report and a poster. The poster will contain information about an important Missourian. The poster will include a time line, 2 illustrations, and 5 important facts about the person. The poster should be creative and eye catching. The paper will include a bibliography with research credit from at least 3 resources. The resources may include books, magazine articles, or websites.

The students will work on their own to put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the topic selected by the student. The poster should have areas segmented that directly reflect the outline created by the student. The poster will be designed on either poster board (full-sized poster board) or full size construction paper.

The students chose a fiction book of their choice. The book report should include: a colorful cover page with your name, the date, the title of the book, the author's name, and an illustration. You report should include an introduction and a conclusion paragraph. The body of the report should include the main characters, the setting, what the issue is/are, and how was is solved. You also need to include your opinion.

RI 3.2 Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea. Students will read a passage and write the supporting details and the main idea.

Write a fairy tale or fable. Students will choose a fairy tale we have read during the year to rewrite using story elements such as setting, character, problem, and solution.

Biography should include important details of the persons life and the contributions he/she made to their community/country. An essay will be written on this person including personal information, qualities, and contributions. This biography should be one or more pages typed.

Opinion Paragraph on one topic, include a sentence showing the students opinion, 3 reasons to support it and a conclusion sentence that restates the opinion.

Complete a realistic fiction piece of writing using skills and strategies taught in this unit.
