Narrative Story Composition

Book Talk Rubric -Independent Reading Favorite Book Students will write and orally present a book talk on one of their favorite independent reading books. Students will persuade other students, by clearly and concisely piquing the interest of peers in a solid hook and focused and interesting summary that closes with a definite opinion with support for reading and enjoying the book. Colorful language and confident speaking will enhance your persuasion.

Students are required to prepare a Book Talk that is three minutes in length. The format of the talk should follow the rubric exactly. Be sure to include skills that you have acquired over the quarter as it relates to organization and ideas. Use the VCOP chart to help you. Be sure to use your own words.

Over the course of reading our novel, you have written numerous personal narratives. For the final personal narrative assignment, you will choose one of your narratives and develop it into a polished piece of writing.
