This is a rubric designed for 5th grade teachers to score the Social Studies product based assessments.

A rubric for a student-created lapbook for a country

Student is to create a power point presentation of 10 slides (excluding introductory, reference and concluding page) that discusses the assigned American Literature Author. Slides are to include accurate information and pictures. Student must present information & power point presentation to the class. Information must be in depth; student will give appropriate credit to where information was gathered - NO PLAGIARISM. Must be STUDENT ORIGINAL. The power point should have speaker notes that correlate to the written work submitted.

You are to research your assigned American Literature author. Using MLA writing techniques, write an essay with a minimum of 600 words and no more than 700 words. The paper format will include a cover page (no pictures), an introductory paragraph, conclusion and bibliography page. The structure of the paper will include transitional words and at least three additional paragraphs. The paper content must inlcude place of birth, where he/she grew up, family, education (early, high school, college), major life changes (marriage, children, novel success, death,etc.), additional experiences (successes/failures), and how their work has affected the American culture.

Students will use this rubric for their wrap-ups, critical thinking, and journals.

This tool is used to grade students' journal entries.

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

Students are required to answer comprehension questions doing/after class readings. Answers must be written in complete sentences.
