For writing a narative using the writing process and developing characters and a setting.

Students are to create a movie trailer for their independent reading book. The book should engage viewers and make the viewers WANT to read the book. Student's video MUST be relevant to the book.

Write a five paragraph analysis of a character from your independent novel you are reading. The introduction needs to capture the readers attention and make them want to read the rest of your analysis. Give a brief overview of the story and how your character fits into the story. In the body you need to show how the character is identified and what his/her traits are in the beginning of the story using examples and textual evidence to prove your analysis. In the next paragraph you must show how the character changes and is portrayed in the middle of the story using examples and textual evidence. The next paragraph will show how the character has evolved and has changed in the end of the story by using examples and textual evidence. In the conclusion show what you have learned from this character.

Rubric to use with Independent Reading projects.

Students were asked to create one of four projects to show their understanding of a story they read in small groups.

Assess work done in Literacy Centers

Students will write a Response to a passage read. They must include at least 3 paragrahs to include their thinking and reasoning, connections, opinions, and discuss multiple events within the text.

Write an essay of character. The character must be based the eight ways to develop characters (action, speech, description, what other characters say, )
