You are asked to write a thank you letter to a former teacher.

Students will choose a specific topic to write a poem about. The students will go through the writing process (prewriting, drafting, editing, revising and publishing) to create a poem that contains 4 stanzas with 4 lines in each stanza. The poem will have a consistent rhyme scheme throghout the poem. On the border around the poem, the student will create symbols that represent their poem.

This rubric describes the requirements for keeping a notebook of all the work you do in class. This Rubric will assess how completely and efficiently you have kept your assignments, notes and handouts organized in your science notebook. It also explains how the notebook will be graded.

Students groups will be assigned a specific dinosaur. Poster board will contains facts classmates should know about that particular dinosaur. In addition, a model of your dinosaur will be required. When both are complete, a small presentation will be given to the class. We will then have a 5th Grade Dinosaur Museum Day where other students and faculty will visit and learn all about your interesting discoveries and models.

Narrative Story

Students write a persuasive letter for an appropriate audience that establishes a position and use supporting details.

To evaluate Map Making and Location skills by doing the Classroom Mapping Assignment.

Poster and/or model presentation of a science concept and/or experiment.
