After selecting a research question about diversity, the student will write a 5-7 page essay that responds to the thesis. The essay must contain a thesis statement with supporting information. The essay must use a minimum of three sources and must include a bibliography; no more than two sources may be from the Internet. The student should read the "Accelerated" column of the rubric to understand the expectations for high-quality work.

Assessment of rhetorical analysis

This research paper proposal should contain the elements of an introduction, statement of a research problem, details pertaining to the methodological design, and a beginning literature review.

At least 5 of the following must be included: Discovery, Tectonic Environment/History, Deposit Formation/Source of Metals, Deposit Shape/Size, Economic Minerals/Metals & Grade/Tonnage, Alteration and Classification (if subtypes exist). Students must use a minimum of 3 references and provide 5 questions (with an answer key and grading scheme). Classmates will complete the questions and check their own answers.

Students give an oral presentation on determining the deposit type using geochemistry from the Yukon.

Students research an Industrial Mineral and complete an oral presentation.
