Thesis Driven Essay Rubric
After selecting a research question about diversity, the student will write a 5-7 page essay that responds to the thesis. The essay must contain a thesis statement with supporting information. The essay must use a minimum of three sources and must include a bibliography; no more than two sources may be from the Internet. The student should read the "Accelerated" column of the rubric to understand the expectations for high-quality work.

Deposit Expert Rubric
Students write a 3-5 page paper on an example of an assigned deposit type. At least 5 of the following must be included: Discovery, Tectonic Environment/History, Deposit Formation/Source of Metals, Deposit Shape/Size, Economic Minerals/Metals & Grade/Tonnage, Alteration and Classification (if subtypes exist). Students must use a minimum of 3 references and provide 5 questions (with an answer key and grading scheme). Classmates will complete the questions and check their own answers.
