Scientific laws and theories are a major part of the study of science but, as we have learned, these laws and theories are always being challenged, tested, and changed. When new information is discovered, scientific laws and theories are either changed or replaced.

Student groups examine controversial issues in genetics and present their findings to the class. The focus is the role genetics plays in the life of a human.

Presentation on a field of study of ethical and moral issues, dealt with in the medical field

In small groups you will be trying to "walk in the shoes" of someone from a different religion. You will be finding out and presenting what your religion is like to others in the group and perhaps in the exhibition. You will be researching and presenting information about the religion. You could use the sub-headings below, however you can add to these. • Historical background information • Basic belief system (one god, many gods, etc.) • Sacred texts • Key leaders • Sacred spaces and places • Rituals, services, or ceremonies • Symbolism • Holidays, festivals and celebrations • Demographics (how many people are members of this religion, what parts of the world, etc.)

This rubric will be used to tell you how you will be graded on keeping a notebook of all the work you do in class. You must keep a notebook of work you do everyday. This Rubric will assess how completely and efficiently you have kept your assignments, notes and handouts organized in your physics notebook.

The students will research an Astronomy topic of their choice. They will need to connect it to what we have studied in class and then extend their research to include new information

Students will work alone or in pairs to research assigned planets, make a power point highlighting key features of the planet, and present their power point to their classmates and teacher(s).

The discussion board and learning journal will make up your participation / activity grade. 100 points will be possible at midterm and again during finals week (50 points for discussion board and 50 points for learning journal).
