Students will create visual interpretations of their person while focusing strands 8R3 & 4

This is a multiple paragraph book report on a nonfiction (true) book and should be limited to one page. Name, date and period number should be in the upper right hand corner of the page. Include the title and author of the book and a complete description of what the book is about. Describe the settings, main events and a review of key ideas. Provide an opinion and explain why you enjoyed or disliked the book.

The students will work in groups to construct a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the novel, I will Always Write Back. The poster should have areas segmented that directly reflect the outline created by the student. The poster will be designed poster board (full-sized poster board) The student is required to explain their poster to the class and teacher.

Students will complete an end of the year book report based on their book of choice. The book must be from the list of books that they read during this current schoo year.

After learning and identifying elements of poetry, students will develop and create a poetry book that includes a least three poem for each type of poem taught:acrostic,cinquain,limerick,haiku,diamonte, shape (optional)

Students are to write a poem or lyrical text using poetic devices. The theme of the poem is based on the student's life and choices

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

Create a poetry book that includes the 6 types of poems taught/researched in class. Include a title and illustrations/drawings on each page.

Students will master one single element and create a poster to describe it.

The student will create a Diorama which includes a setting in the book, a written description of three events occurring in the story and the story climax.

Students wrote an Argumentative Essay. 7th grade focused on the question of zoos, while 8th grade focused on a characters perseverance.

Students present an article that all of the students have read; they should connect the content and argument of the article to the current task: Do We Need Zoos?

In groups, students were to discuss the ways in which the texts read in Unit 4 explored different types of intelligence. For each selection they were to identify the type(s) of intelligence featured. Slides were to include accurate information and pictures. Student will present information & power point presentation to the class. Information must be in depth; student NO PLAGIARISM. Must be STUDENT ORIGINAL.

Independent Activity: Zoo Collage Create a collage that represents zoos. The collage should be made on an 8 1/2x11piece of paper This collage should consist of a wide variety of images that tell about zoos. The collage should contain pictures and/orwords that describe zoos. Words may be hand-written or a font type used. Grades will be given according to the attached rubric. Collage is the first part of the overall argumenattive piece for this quarter.

Students wrote a non fictional multi-paragraph narrative on a personal event or person in their life.

This rubric will be used to evaluate how a student works and participates during activities (work, class, meeting, assembly, etc.). I have purposely weighted each criteria this way as I believe this rubric will be fairer to the lower level students that are trying to participate rather than those that are largely unresponsive in class - Fair = 3 and Poor = 1

Write a business letter. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

This rubric will be used to determine if the student has successfully understood the concept of a noun and how to recognize the differences between abstract. concrete, and possessive nouns.

Students will create a poem that tells a story. The poem should rhyme and include figurative language.

Students will create a poem that tells a story, using at least 4 four line stanzas, with lines two and four rhyming. (extra points for rhyming 1 and 3 also). The poem must include one instance of alliteration, simile OR metaphor, onomatopoeia, and incorporate descriptive adjectives and verbs. This poem must also be written in iambic pentameter.
