Students are to write a short story that demonstrates their understanding of the stages of plot and the characteristics of a short story.

Upon completion of in-class practice of identifying and writing short stories that contain the main parts of a story, the learner will be able to effectively write and identify what components make up a story through descriptive details.

The students will create a poster on a chosen Human Right that they believe is important. The poster should include a Human Right, a responsibility that comes with it, an image representing the right, and a written description of why it is important to the student.

This rubric is to measure the expectations in grade 6 for a simple recount.

This will be used to analyze and assign grades for Mapping assignments.

After you have read your book and completed and AR test on the book, you will pretend it has been made into a movie. Create a POSTER advertising your "movie" (BOOK). Be sure to include the setting and main characters, problem, attempts to solve the problem and the solution. You must fill all space on a 12 X 18 poster which will be given to you. Do NOT copy the books cover...or an online summary! This WILL result in a grade of 0.5 All written aspects must be in your words!

Students will respond to a writing prompt using descriptive words to describe their Haunted House

Students will learn to complete their own Photo Story presentation of a fable or either a modern or traditional fairy tale, using the Photo Story program, and then present their presentations to the class.

As part of our Children's Literature unit, each student will write his or her own children's book to be read to some of the younger students in one of the elementary schools.
