Students will provide an explanation of how to use trigonometry and similar triangles to measure objects that would be difficult to measure directly. In groups of four, students will create a project explaining two types of indirect measurement, including measurements, calculations, and procedures measuring at least two items at school. Both methods of indirect measurement should be used on each item to allow for comparison of results and discussion of the accuracy of each method. Project formats: iMovie video, Keynote presentation, or Pages document saved at an e-book. Required elements include: a introduction and conclusion/summary; explanation of indirect measurement; a organized format which may include topic headings/chapter divisions; proper measurements and explanation of any special tools needed; comparison the two types of indirect measurement including differences and which one is more accurate; photos and/or video; calculations, measurements, and procedures.
