1. Main Character and Setting: In the 1st paragraph tell what the setting of your novel is and who the main characters are. Don’t just list them; identify your main characters and describe them with detailed words! 2. Summary: In the 2nd paragraph, summarize the plot of your novel. Tell the 5 most important things that happened (no more than 5!). NEVER GIVE AWAY THE ENDING!! 3. Historical Context: What connections can be made (either specifically or by inference to national or world events).

Grading rubric for the Author Poster.

Students will research the life of three authors and explore three works he/she authored. (select from poetry, novel, short story or other genre) The information will come from a variety of web resources where the student will learn about significant life events and historical context of the author's life.

Simply mark a tally under positive or negative when you observe a student participating in either a positive or negative manner to help you reach a decision on how they did.

Students will research their adopted element and determine the following: abbreviation, atomic number, atomic mass, periodic table group, state at room temperature, boiling point, melting point, whether it exists naturally or is synthetic, its source, whether it is essential to life, its common (and uncommon) uses, any hazards involved in using it, and its history including when, where, and by whom it was discovered.
