Students read a novel independently and write a critical book review highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the novel.

Write 4 diary/journal entries that one of the story’s main characters might have kept before, during, or after the book’s events. Remember that the character’s thoughts and feelings are very important in a diary. Diary should be written in the first person (I, me, my, etc.). Each entry must be at least 250 words.

Have you ever loved a book, but wished it ended differently? Now’s your chance to get the resolution you want by rewriting the ending of the book you have read. Then, you will explain why you made the changes you did. Don't forget to include dialogue.

Students will write a letter to the author of the book the student just completed. Students will share their connections, observations (what you liked and what you would change, and questions with the author. The completed letter should be typed neatly on 8 1/2 x 11" paper or written neatly on stationary that you design. Students should write a draft, revise it, then write a final copy of their letter
